Production as main objective
Sometimes the daily routine of quality absorbs us and abstracts us from external inputs and consequently abstracts us from the global reality.
We spend many hours and days verifying the sources of problems, analyzing parts and processes, to discover the causes and try to fix the root cause.
All this dynamic makes us focus on very specific details, moving away, as I mentioned at the beginning, from the global vision of the factory.
The objective of any industrial plant is to produce with quality and efficiency, at the lowest cost. If we look at the definition itself, the first word that comes to mind is “Produce”.
The word “Produce” is the main and priority objective in any factory process, an indisputable objective for managers, supervisors and operators, often leaving quality in the background.
On the other hand, in an industrial factory there are many departments (production, quality, logistics, continuous improvement,…), each of them often with different objectives and specific actions aimed at achieving excellence in their own task, thus avoiding being dispersed by other external factors. That is why they often conflict with the main objective of the factory, which is to “Produce”.
Linking quality and productivity
Efficiency must be sought by avoiding increasing the amount of work, promoting collaboration between departments and prioritizing the efficiency of this collaboration, which will undoubtedly result in greater and better productivity. It is not only about producing at any cost, it is about producing with efficiency and consequently with quality.
Within a factory we find different production stoppages; unplanned, normally caused by breakdowns, organizational dysfunctions (lack of material, packaging…), and, on the other hand, we have scheduled stoppages (meetings, lunch…), changes (molds, materials, references…) and micro-stops in general.
To reach “0 defects” while prioritizing productivity, it is essential to link the 2 worlds – Quality and Production.

Kapture.io combines production and quality. This downtime is recorded with the exact minutes of stoppage and the reason. This allows us to see beyond the own data of tolerances, nominals, checklist…, it allows us to see, for example, the reason why there are less controlled parts.
A very important point at a productive level, which has been taken into account in the development of the new functionality, is to be able to quickly and visually show what is happening on the line at all times. The reasons for stoppages are displayed on the screen in different colors, allowing the supervisor to control at all times what is happening in the control station, machine or line in question, simply by looking at the color of the screen.
