Report sharing: sharing information is the key

In a recent article on Metrology Reporting 4.0, we explained the enormous benefits that can be obtained if we decide to move from paper reports to a digital and analytical tool that produces and updates them for us:

  • updated summary of the quality status of the project part;
  • cross-referencing of data from different media;
  • combination of different types of graphics;
  • there are no restrictions as to the types of checks in the same report: there can be numeric, Boolean or a list of options to choose from for a specific question;
  • results filter (by date, machine, etc.)

Now imagine you are an OEM receiving this data on a periodic (daily? weekly?) basis from your Tier1 suppliers. The gap between reports is high enough that between two of them the process could be at risk of getting out of control, or even do so, and any decisions made thereafter will be hugely costly, based on the urgency of the moment.

But what if we could have such reports available on an ongoing basis, with the data accessible at all times?

What if, in addition to creating dynamic reports, with data from multiple sources, cross-checked and updated instantly, it were possible to share them in real time? Wouldn’t that give us much greater assurance of the quality status of the parts we buy?

The answer is obviously yes. A platform such as kapture.io offers the possibility of sharing reports in real time in a simple way by means of the report sharingThis means that updated information, previously reviewed and validated by Tier1, is available at all times, allowing the process to be constantly monitored and informed decisions to be made without the need to apply emergency plans, but simply preventive plans, or even based on the predictability of the data.

The digitalization of processes increasingly requires that customers and suppliers work in collaborative environments, where information sharing is a basic pillar to ensure the quality of processes and avoid inefficiencies and unnecessary costs.
