Kapture.io and Quality in Odoo: The integration that takes the next step

Industrial quality is no longer just “zero defects”. Today it also demands traceability, digital evidence and real-time reaction. If your operation is orchestrated in Odoo, connecting a Quality Management System “QMS” like Kapture.io allows you to close the loop between operations and quality without adding complexity to your day-to-day. In this guide we show you what the integration solves, how it works and what you need to implement it without custom developments.

Why integrate Odoo’s quality module with Kapture.io?

Many plants continue to capture data of high quality on sheets of calculation. This limits digitisation, complicates audits and makes it difficult maintain a robust system of indicators.

Odoo offers integrated modules, such as Quality that allows you to define checkpoints, launch checks linked to manufacturing orders and inventory, record incidents and exploit basic quality reports.

The pain point comes when you are looking to go further in quality management and have more detailed data on your controls, with:

  • Cosmetic controls with user-friendly interfaces.
  • Guidelines for flexible control and advanced control plans by reference, line, customer or supplier.
  • Multimedia evidence (measurements, photographs, signatures, attachments) directly from the floor.
  • Dynamic sampling and complex conditional logic in the rules.
  • Integrated management of non-conformities, corrective/preventive actions, and audits.
  • SPC analysis, import of metrology files (PC-DMIS, Metrolog and Polyworks)
  • Specific quality dashboards with consolidated data from different lines, plants, or suppliers.

That’s where a dedicated QMS like Kapture.io brings a specific layer, designed to speak the language of the operator, the quality manager and the auditor at the same time.

Kapture.io Quality Management Software

Integrating Kapture.io with Odoo does not replace the ERP, it complements it, reinforcing the module of quality when the operation requires a level of a16> depth and specialisation specific to an industrial QMS.

How does the Odoo integration with Kapture.io QMS work?

Architecture is:

  1. Quality control is triggered from the Odoo quality module. When creating or advancing a manufacturing order, Odoo sends the necessary context (product, operation, batch, etc.) to activate the corresponding guideline in Kapture.io.
  2. Kapture.io guides on-site execution. The operator opens the pre-identified guideline, completes measurements and checks in a guided manner and, where appropriate, attaches photos, comments or signatures.
  3. The results are automatically returned to the Odoo quality module. The inspection status and data are synchronised back without any manual tasks, keeping Odoo up to date for traceability, reporting, and further actions.

On a day-to-day basis, this translates into less friction for the operator and greater visibility for quality and production.

It is compatible with Odoo Community and Enterprise, and supports Online (SaaS), Odoo.sh and On-Premise deployments.

The integration is supported by standard connectors and APIs, so that it is not necessary to modify the core of Odoo. The adjustments are concentrated on the configuration of data (products, orders, batches, centres of work, etc.) and on the flows of exchange between Odoo and Kapture.io, respecting the customisations that you already have in your ERP.

How does Kapture.io complement Odoo’s quality module?

Far from replacing Odoo’s quality module, Kapture.io enhances quality management with a more specialised operational layer that is closer to the plant.

Both solutions fulfil important roles but with different approaches: Odoo’s quality module stands out for its native integration with the rest of the ERP (manufacturing, inventory, purchasing, sales, etc.), while Kapture.io provides functional depth in quality, speed of configuration, and a user experience designed specifically for operators and quality managers.

The following table summarises the main differences to better understand how each solution adds value and how they can complement each other.

What does Kapture.io offer more than the Odoo quality module?

The Odoo quality module already allows you to configure control points, create quality checks linked to manufacturing orders and inventory, trigger alerts, work with worksheets, and exploit basic quality statistics, all integrated with the rest of the ERP apps.

Kapture.io comes into play when you need to take quality management to a more advanced level with:

  • Advanced control plans and dynamic sampling.
    • Control plan templates configurable by reference, process, supplier or customer, with definition of critical characteristics, frequencies, control limits and responsibilities.
    • Sampling conditioned (by batch, by shift, by previous result) and logic that allows adapting the guideline to the actual risk.
  • Cross-sectional capture of data and multimedia evidence
    • Manual and automatic data collection from reception, online, metrology or end-of-line controls, as well as from PLCs and vision inspection, all unified in a single quality platform.
    • Attach measurements, photographs, signatures, and documents as evidence directly from the site, ensuring complete traceability for audits and customers.
  • Integrated management of non-conformities, CAPA and audits
    • Opening, assigning and tracking incidents and non-conformities with traceability of actions, statuses and resolution times.
    • Specific modules for audits and problem-solving that enable findings, root causes, and action plans to be linked to actual control data.
  • SPC and advanced quality analytics
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC) data analysis, customized Business Intelligence dashboards and configurable reports for plant, customer or supplier.
    • Consolidated view of quality by line, product family or plant, beyond the scope of a single module within the ERP.
  • User experience designed for plant
    • Operator-friendly interface with clear guidance, simplified inputs and focus on minimizing recording errors.
    • Ability to operate in environments with limited connectivity, synchronizing data as soon as communication with the cloud is available.

In practice, Odoo maintains control of operations and global traceability of the company, Kapture.io adds a specialized layer of quality management 4.0 that captures, standardizes and exploits the data that is generated minute by minute in the plant. The integration of the two is what turns that information into successful decisions and audits.

Integration scenario between Odoo and Kapture.io

In most projects the starting point is similar:
Odoo is already implemented and used to manage manufacturing, inventory, purchasing and basic batch traceability. On that basis Kapture.io is incorporated as a specialized QMS to gain depth in quality management and bring data capture to the shop floor.

  • Starting Point
    • Odoo is already implemented in Manufacturing, Inventory, and Purchasing to manage orders, movements, and batches.
    • Quality management is supported by Odoo’s quality module and spreadsheets, paper forms, or individual developments.
    • The objective is to improve quality in the plant (control plans, evidence, NC/CAPA, KPIs) without reopening the ERP project.
  • What is being executed?
    • The initial scope is defined: Lines, families of product or plants pilot where quality has the greatest impact.
    • Kapture.io connects to Odoo’s key masters and transactions (products, routes, manufacturing orders, batches, locations).
    • Control plans and guidelines that currently exist in Excel, on paper, or in separate developments are configured in Kapture.io.
    • Basic flows of non-conformities and actions are defined without affecting the core of Odoo.
    • The teams are accompanied by the plant at the start of the pilots. a4> plant at the start of the pilots and, once they are stabilised, it spreads to the rest of the lines or plants.
  • Benefits and ROI
    • You digitise quality on the shop floor without opening a complex customisation project within the ERP.
    • You obtain indicators for scrap, rework, and supplier quality from the first pilots.
    • You leverage the existing investment in Odoo, which remains the system of record, while Kapture.io acts as the expert quality 4.0 layer.
    • You reduce the effort involved in preparing a4> internal and client audits thanks to centralised evidence and traceability.
